From first 300mph and side by side fours...
A real piece of Drag Racing History from probably the most famous runs at Santa Pod to date, that happened in FIA Top Fuel qualifying 2nd June 2002.
This is what Eurodragster reported at the time - In today's first round of Top Fuel qualifying, Andy Carter and Barry Sheavills have run Europe's first side-by-side fours and even more importantly Europes first 300mph passes. Barry recorded 4.970/304.71 and Andy 4.897/303.07. So as it stands, Andy is on for the ET record and Barry for the speed record.
I have owned this piece coming up to 20 years and this has been displayed at various places including the Santa Pod Shop for 6 Years.
The Left Front Tyre and 2 Spark Plugs from No. 1 Cylinder on Andy Carters Top Fuel Dragster that were taken off after that historic run. There mounted in an Oak Case. On that pass 6 records were set - First 300mph (Barry Sheavills) run, First side by side 300s, First side by side 4s, One half on an FIA European ET (Andy Carter) record, One half of an FIA European Speed (Barry Sheavills) Record and quickest (Andy Carter) run outside the USA 4.89.
