Bob Roberts has kindly sent a gallery of pictures taken by him and Luke Robinson whilst the build of Marc Meihuizens car took place at Eurodragster.com sponsor Robinson Race Cars.
Bob says the build took place 2008/9, however it would be different in details if it were 2020. There are lots of pictures of the finished car because it really is my favourite of all of Andy's builds. I always thought the Firebird looked better than the similar Camaro and the dark blue and flames paint job was near perfect.
The car made its debut at the 2009 Main Event and Marc qualified 12th out of 21 cars at its first event with a 6.410 (the bump spot was 7.262). In the cars third appearance that year, the NitrOlympX Marc qualified 6th with a great 6.212 (top qualifier was 6.129).
The following year Marc improved his ET to a 6.181 at the European Finals. The cars first round wins came in 2011, when Marc ran a full season with the car for the first time. He reached the semi final in the last three events of the championship and ran a best ET of 6.056 at Tierps first FIA race. Marc was fourth in the championship in 2011.
Marc retained his fourth place in 2012 with one semi final appearance. In 2013 he stepped up again, scoring his first five at the FIA Main Event and qualifying no.1 with a 5.913. After winning in Alastaro and improving his best ET to 5.905 at Tierp (qualifying 2nd out of 32 cars). he ended the season in third place in the Championship.
In 2014 Marc was sixth in the Championship, becoming runner up at the Euro Finals and running a best of 5.98 at the Main Event. But he had decided to quit drag racing by this stage, the pressures of his trucking business compromising his racing programme and a brush with the wall in the final round sealing his decision.
Kim Kristiansen bought the car, and raced it in Top Doorslammer in 2016 before joining the FIA tour in 2017. Kim ran the car very similarly to Marc and the car went well again. In 2017 Kim ran a best of 6.058, in 2018 he hit the fives with a 5.940 at the Main Event and qualified with a five at each event that year, an outstanding achievement with the differing track conditions in the FIA series.
